Lately my mom's cat has been having some problems urinating, for a long time now, every time she eats catnip, she gets severe cystitis, but this time she has been complaining a lot because of the pain. We have tried to make her drink water, but this is one of the things that has caused this problem. Kimba, almost does not drink water, this is a problem that he has had since he was very young, he is 5 years old and since he was little it is difficult for him to drink water, sometimes he has to force himself to drink water with a syringe.

Últimamente el gato de mi mamá ha estado con ciertos problemas para orinar, desde hace mucho, cada vez que consume gatarina, le produce una fuerte cistitis, pero en esta ocasión se ha quejado mucho por el dolor. Hemos tratado de hacer que tome agua, pero esta es una de las cosas que le ha producido este problema. Kimba, casi no bebe agua, este es un problema que ha tenido desde que era muy joven, ya tiene 5 años de edad y desde pequeño es difícil que tome agua, en ocasiones debe obligarse a tomar agua con alguna jeringa.

It is here where the concern grew, we administered orally some water and he managed to eat a little, we thought that the pain was passing a little, but on Tuesday he continued with the discomfort; it is here where we took action and decided to go out to buy serum and everything necessary to supply it intravenously.

Desde el día Lunes 19-05-2025, inició con fuertes quejas por el dolor, a veces se quejaba pero en esta ocasión realmente nos preocupó su situación, ya que sus maullidos eran de dolor fuerte. Es acá donde la preocupación creció administramos de forma oral un poco de agua y logró comer un poco, creímos que estaba pasando un poco el dolor, pero el dia martes continuó con las molestias; es acá donde tomamos acción y decidimos salir a comprar suero y todo lo necesario para suministrarlo de forma intravenoso.

Mi esposa tiene conocimientos de enfermería y veterinaria básicos para atender alguna emergencia que se pueda presentar con nuestra gata, y es asi que en esta ocasión ese conocimiento lo usamos para atender a Kimba. Se le suministró la dosis adecuada de Ciprofloxacina según su peso y también diclofenac para aliviar el dolor del felino. Con mucho cuidado se le colocó una vía intravenosa para suministrarle suero y así hidratarlo. Para un felino de aproximadamente 4.5 kilos se le suministra 120 mililitros de forma fraccionada de 60 mililitros con una diferencia de 2 a 3 horas.

Mientras se le suministraba la solución para su hidratación, se mantuvo muy calmado, así como al momento de la colocación del catéter en su patita izquierda. Realmente queda claro que con buena atención y dándole confianza, los gatos se pueden atender sin mayores complicaciones ya que cada vez que se ha atendido ha mantenido una actitud tranquila. Aún se encuentra en observación ya que para este tipo de situaciones se debe seguir suministrando suero.
