LA AVENTURA DE YACU - PARTE IV

Yacu estaba paralizado, se encontraba en presencia del poderoso Yacuruna, el espíritu temible. Las palabras en su boca se quedaron encerradas por la impresión. Sus ojos no dejaban de mirar desbordadamente a aquel impresionante espíritu, quien a su vez, fijaba su rostro hacia el niño con una torturadora severidad. —¡Niño de aldea te hice una pregunta! —Exclamó el espíritu—¿Por qué no me respondes? Yacu no podía escapar de su asombro, de nuevo, había quedado a merced del miedo, pero luego comenzó a cavilar entendiendo que ya no podía quedar a merced del horror. Yacu se levantó del suelo y, con una muestra de respeto, se dirigió al poderoso Yacuruna con palabras humildes. —¡Oh poderoso espíritu que habitas en este río de aguas puras!, perdona si fui grosero al intentar tocar sin permiso tu torrente, pero estoy desesperado y no me queda mucho tiempo, sé que no puedo mentirte así que te contaré por qué he venido ante ti. Yacuruna comenzó a suavizar su rostro estudiando en todo momento las actitudes y gestos del niño. El caimán colosal que montaba, se balanceaba lentamente de un lado a otro como si el espíritu estuviese pensativo. Las anacondas que se arreguindaban de su cuello, comenzaron a sisearle en los oídos palabras secretas, Yacu entendió en ese momento que se trataba de él, porque estos reptiles que acompañan a Yacuruna, son asistentes que ayudan al espíritu a tomar decisiones importantes. —Tienes mi permiso para hablar muchacho, y espero que sea muy convincente lo que me vayas a decir. Yacu tragó una gran bocanada de saliva, grave error, puesto que Yacuruna observaba y analizaba cada gesto prejuiciosamente, eso bastaba para que el niño se pusiera nervioso, sin embargo, tenía que ocultarlo e imponer una actitud segura ante aquel poderoso ser o sus propios nervios lo condenarían. —¡Gran guardián! —Se alzó Yacu ante el gran espíritu. —Me encuentro en una misión importante para salvar a mi padre, está muy enfermito porque en una de sus exploraciones respiró del polvo venenoso que emana la planta roja Taitacán, la que los cristianos llaman «La espina del Diablo». Está muy grave y no hay otra manera de salvarlo a menos que se use la magia y necesito del agua del río que es tu hogar para poder realizarla, por favor, ¡te lo suplico gran espíritu!, déjame tomar un poco, solo una garrafa de estas límpidas aguas. Yacuruna lo miró con severidad, midió sus palabras determinando si en ellas había sinceridad. Encontró mucha tristeza, melancolía y preocupación rodeando al niño como auras oscuras que estremecían su pequeño cuerpo. El enorme caimán se agitaba, provocando pequeñas olas que azotaban las orillas del río. Las anacondas nuevamente, se deslizaron por su rostro rígido hasta sus oídos, susurrando sus opiniones. Parecía que Yacu se encontraba en medio de un terrorífico juicio, en el que, si se encontraba culpable, podría ser su fin. —Noto en tus palabras sinceridad, niño. —Dijo Yacuruna. —Pero hay algo que me tiene preocupado debido a que has mencionado a la magia. Tu no pareces ser un chamán o un hechicero, lo que me hace pensar es que acudiste a alguno y él te pide que busques estas cosas para completar su embrujo, pero ¿con qué otro fin aparte del que ya me has mencionado? El caimán empezó acercarse hacia Yacu para darle una mejor posición a Yacuruna, éste extendió el brazo donde sostenía la lanza para apuntar al niño con la punta fija en el pecho. —Veré dentro de ti la otra parte de tu verdad. —Dijo Yacuruna lanzando un relámpago con su lanza, el cual, dejó a Yacu en completo trance. Durante esos instantes, Yacu tenía la mente en blanco, como si el poder del espíritu no le permitiera pensar. El proceso le concedía a Yacuruna hurgar hasta en los más profundos pensamientos y recuerdos del niño, y cuando hubo finalmente obtenido lo que buscaba, exclamó una palabra que hizo que su voz invocara una centella que abrió el cielo. —¡Amaru! —Fue la palabra que profirió. —¡Esa traidora! ¡No puedo creer que este niño esté confabulado con esa malvada serpiente! Después de salir de su trance y hubo escuchado las palabras de ira de Yacuruna al mencionar a Amaru, Yacu se preocupó, sabía que la serpiente tenía mala fama en el mundo de los chamanes pero no tenía idea que había llegado tan lejos. Esperó un castigo cruel, que lo fulminara llevándolo a las puertas de la muerte, pero después de unos segundos, todo estaba tranquilo, hasta que Yacu escuchó la voz del espíritu nuevamente. —Levántate niño ya no te haré daño, es más, dejaré que tomes un poco del agua de mi río. No confío en Amaru y jamás lo haré, y cualquiera que la conozca no será tan tonto como para hacer un trato con ella. Sin embargo, tú eres un caso especial y ella al parecer confía en ti, está tan segura que la ayudarás a salir de la prisión a la que fue condenada que ha puesto hasta su vulnerabilidad en juego. Eres un muchacho astuto y encontrarás otro camino, no necesitas de la magia siniestra para lograr tu objetivo. A parte de mi permiso, tienes mi bendición. Después de oír esas palabras provenientes del gran Yacuruna, Yacu se quedó pasmado pensando al principio de que aquello pudiera ser una trampa, pero el poderoso espíritu se sumergió de nuevo en el río, y a partir de ese momento, todo el entorno se volvió tranquilo. Probó en tocar el agua de nuevo y esta vez sí pudo hacerlo. Rápidamente, sacó su frasco de madera de su bolsito de cuero y lo llenó hasta el tope, luego de eso, miró hacia el río haciendo un gesto de agradecimiento para después marcharse a gran velocidad hacia su próxima búsqueda.

Yacu was paralyzed, he was in the presence of the powerful Yacuruna, the fearsome spirit. The words in his mouth were locked in by the impression. His eyes did not cease to gaze at that awesome spirit, who in turn fixed his face to the child with a torturing severity. —Village boy, I asked you a question! —exclaimed the spirit, —Why don't you answer me? Yacu could not escape his astonishment, again, he had been left at the mercy of fear, but then he began to ponder, understanding that he could no longer be at the mercy of horror. Yacu rose from the floor and, with a show of respect, addressed the powerful Yacuruna with humble words. —Oh mighty spirit who dwell in this river of pure waters, forgive me if I was rude in trying to touch your stream without permission, but I am desperate and do not have much time left, I know I cannot lie to you so I will tell you why I have come before you. Yacuruna began to soften his face by studying the child's attitudes and gestures at all times. The colossal alligator he was riding slowly swayed back and forth as if the spirit were pensive. The anacondas that were snuggling around his neck, began to hiss in his ears secret words, Yacu understood at that moment that it was him, because these reptiles that accompany Yacuruna, are assistants that help the spirit to make important decisions. —You have my permission to speak, my boy, and I hope that what you are going to say to me is very convincing. Yacu swallowed a big mouthful of saliva, a serious mistake, since Yacuruna observed and analyzed every gesture with prejudice, that was enough to make the boy nervous, however, he had to hide it and impose a sure attitude before that powerful being or his own nerves would condemn him. —Great guardian! -Yacu stood before the great spirit. —I am on an important mission to save my father, he is very sick because in one of his explorations he breathed in the poisonous dust emanating from the red Taitacan plant, which Christians call "The Devil's Thorn". He is very sick and there is no other way to save him unless magic is used and I need the water from the river that is your home to be able to perform it, please, I beg you great spirit, let me take a little, just a carafe of these clear waters. Yacuruna looked at him sternly, measured his words to determine if there was sincerity in them. He found much sadness, melancholy, and worry surrounding the child like dark auras that shook his little body. The huge alligator was stirring, causing small waves to lap the banks of the river. The anacondas again, slipped down his rigid face to his ears, whispering his opinions. It seemed that Yacu was in the midst of a terrifying trial, in which, if found guilty, it could be the end of him. —I can tell from your words sincerity, child. —said Yacuruna. —But there is something that has me worried because you mentioned magic. You don't seem to be a shaman or a sorcerer, what makes me think is that you went to one and he asks you to seek these things to complete his spell, but to what other end than the one you have already mentioned? The alligator began to approach Yacu to give Yacuruna a better position, he extended his arm where he held the spear to point it at the child with the tip fixed in his chest. —I will see inside you the other part of your truth. —Said Yacuruna, throwing a lightning bolt with his spear, which left Yacu in a complete trance. During those moments, Yacu's mind was blank, as if the power of the spirit did not allow him to think. The process allowed Yacuruna to delve into even the deepest thoughts and memories of the child, and when he had finally obtained what he sought, he exclaimed a word that made his voice invoke a spark that opened the sky. —Amaru! —was the word he uttered. —That traitor! I cannot believe that this child is in cahoots with that evil snake! After he came out of his trance and had heard Yacuruna's angry words at the mention of Amaru, Yacu became concerned, he knew that the snake had a bad reputation in the world of shamans but he had no idea that it had come this far. He waited for a cruel punishment to strike him dead, but after a few seconds, all was quiet, until Yacu heard the voice of the spirit again. —Get up, boy, I won't hurt you anymore, in fact, I'll let you drink some of my river water. I do not trust Amaru and never will, and anyone who knows her will not be so foolish as to make a deal with her. However, you are a special case and she seems to trust you, she is so sure that you will help her get out of the prison she was sentenced to that she has put even her vulnerability into play. You are a clever boy and you will find another way, you don't need the sinister magic to achieve your goal. Apart from my permission, you have my blessing. After hearing those words from the great Yacuruna, Yacu was stunned at first to think that this could be a trap, but the powerful spirit sank back into the river, and from that moment on, the whole environment became calm. He tried to touch the water again and this time he was able to do so. Quickly, he took his wooden jar out of his leather bag and filled it to the brim, after which he looked down at the river with a gesture of gratitude and then left at great speed for his next quest.
