I'm happy to announce that I will be going on my first missions trip with Saddleback Church (Lake Forest, CA) to Costa Rica this Summer!! This Church is led by the awesome Pastor Rick Warren, who wrote "The Purpose Driven Life" and inaugurated Obama to the US Presidency in 2009.

My specific team of 8 is going to the Huetar Norte region, specifically the town of San Carlos while the other teams are headed to different cities/towns. I plan to teach the formation of savings (microfinance) groups to local church leaders. Other team members were trained in a wide range of skills - from water cleanliness to business startups. I picked savings groups because the most impoverished communities often lack access to traditional credit from banks and do not have a secure way to build wealth. SB's PEACE plans hope to change all that.
