Science, innovation, open source and Steem are coming together this September in Italy, and we’re excited to invite you to take part.

Unless you’ve been living under the proverbial rock for the past few weeks, you must have read or heard about the upcoming event planned by SteemSTEM and Utopian.io this upcoming September. Detailed in posts by both Utopian.io and SteemSTEM, this gathering of technologists, scientists and prominent Steemians is a five day long science and tech extravaganza due to take place between September 19th and 23rd in Pisa, Florence and between (at Virgo Labs).

Plans & Dreams: Virgo Labs, Utopian mini-hackathon and beyond

In addition to the planned visit to Virgo Labs, one of the three places in the world currently hunting for gravitational waves, we plan to hold a Utopian.io Mini-Hackathon during the days (and nights) we will have together at the house we will be renting to accommodate all attendees, and hold activities promoting Steem wherever we go. So far, 30 people have registered for the Utopian.io or SteemSTEM meetup (or both), and we are hard at work organizing everything including flights, accommodation and car rentals (that are necessary to reach Virgo Labs).

Some of the plans for this double event are concrete, like the visit to Virgo Labs by SteemSTEM and Utopian.io members. Others are still ideas and dreams, and as such depend heavily on your support and contribution.

Those who cannot attend physically will still be able to enjoy the learning, brainstorming and fun. We plan to livestream the hackathon, exclusive interviews with prominent Steemians attending and scientists at Virgo Labs, broadcast a special live episode of the Utopian.io Open Source Radio Show on MSP Waves (with special giveaways), and much more.

All these dreams, like most dreams, require funding. That’s where YOU come in.
